"To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity."

— Nelson Mandela

OUR History

The organisation was established in 2016 by a group of individuals who used to work at St. Andrews Refugee services (StARS) in Cairo, an organisation with is driven by the idea that refugees are the best people to help refugees. Returning to the UK, and finding that the situation was somewhat different here, they saw a gap to support refugees and refugee services, both in the UK through the development of refugee-centred and refugee-led programming.

We believe that, when given the opportunity, refugees and those with lived experience of forced migration are extraordinary contributors, and community leaders within UK communities. Yet, refugees and migrants are often prevented from contributing to the UK due to the hostile environment; by barriers to legal work and free and safe movement, by language barriers and by discrimination in healthcare and education.

Through our projects we therefore aim to improve the experience of integration in the UK through increased capacity building, training and community.
